Today’s tech world moves fast. Leadership is no longer about hierarchy or power. It’s about empathy, authenticity, and inspiring change. Few people embody that philosophy more deeply than Virginia C. Dori, a Filipina-American marketing executive whose three-decade career bridges the precision of Silicon Valley innovation with the warmth of human-centered leadership.
Virginia is the CMO and Co-Founder of Karmascore. It is a relationship wellness and analytics app. She combines marketing technology, emotional intelligence, and storytelling to build stronger connections. Her work is not just about digital innovation; it’s about human transformation.
“Leadership isn’t about titles, it’s about vision, empathy, and impact. I believe in leading with both heart and strategy,” she says with a confident smile.
Virginia began her journey in the Philippines. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications and Marketing from Far Eastern University, Manila. In 1981, she moved to California, a bold leap that became the first step in a remarkable journey of reinvention. What followed was a career that would take her from corporate boardrooms to creative studios, from the structured world of global technology to the boundless world of travel, art, and storytelling.
Beyond her executive success, Virginia is also a published author of “Walk with Destiny” and a fine artist, known for her oil-on-canvas paintings. Both her writing and art reflect a deeply creative spirit and a lifelong curiosity about the human experience, qualities that infuse her leadership with empathy and imagination.
Virginia’s life has not been without challenges. A 23-year breast cancer survivor, she carries with her a profound sense of gratitude and strength. The loss of her younger son nearly two decades ago changed her perspective on life and leadership forever, teaching her that adversity, when met with grace, can become a powerful source of transformation. Her eldest son, who is married and thriving, is her “Rock,” and she is grateful for the family blessings and resilience.
“Every chapter of my life has taught me to lead with grace, grit, and gratitude,” she reflects softly.
Those words aren’t just philosophy; they’re a way of life. Whether navigating corporate challenges or personal heartbreak, Virginia has always led with courage and compassion.
Outside of work, Virginia embraces life with the same passion that drives her career. She is a fitness enthusiast, an avid traveller, and a lifelong learner. Whether exploring art galleries, attending concerts and sports events, or painting in her studio, she finds joy in discovery and creativity. Europe, in particular, holds a special place in her heart, a source of inspiration that feeds her artwork, book writing, and leadership style
For more than 30 years, Virginia has led marketing at major tech companies. Her experience includes both global firms and SaaS startups Intel, LSI (Broadcom), VLSI (NXP), JDSU (Lumentum/Viavi), Chartered (Global Foundries), Ciena, and PNY, as well as several high-growth SaaS startups. Her expertise spans digital transformation, brand architecture, go-to-market strategy, and communications disciplines, which she has mastered through a combination of analytical rigor and creative storytelling.
Her strategic leadership has fueled billions in business growth, contributing to multiple software startup exits, as well as two major technology IPOs worth over $50 billion combined. Yet, despite these achievements, Virginia’s true success lies in her ability to unite people, bridging technology and humanity, analytics and empathy.
At Karmascore, she leads global marketing, communications, branding, and business development, helping position the platform as a pioneer in relationship wellness management and analytics. Through Karmascore’s app, she aims to help users understand and strengthen their connections, using data to turn technology into an effective tool for emotional intelligence.
Virginia is also the founder of CMO-on-Demand Consulting, a boutique advisory firm helping technology companies scale, transform, and prepare for IPOs. Her clients benefit not just from her marketing expertise but also from her holistic understanding of leadership, culture, and purpose.
Early in her career, Virginia faced skepticism and bias. When she shared her ambition to reach a marketing leadership role, her manager told her it would be difficult simply because she lacked a technical degree.
That remark could have discouraged her. Instead, it became fuel.
“What could’ve broken me became my biggest motivator. I didn’t listen to limitations, I listened to possibilities,” she recalls.
Determined to prove her worth and potential, she immersed herself in learning technical concepts, taking on the toughest projects, and demonstrating that leadership is not about credentials, but character. Within seven years, she achieved her first leadership role. Years later, as she stood on stage speaking at a global technology conference, she spotted that same manager in the audience applauding her success.
It wasn’t revenge; it was validation. Proof that perseverance, paired with purpose, can deny any limitation.
Integrity. Curiosity. Impact.
These three principles form the foundation of Virginia’s leadership philosophy.
“Integrity keeps me grounded. Curiosity keeps me learning. And impact reminds me that true success is about uplifting others,” she says.
Her teams describe her as transparent and inclusive, a leader who listens as much as she directs. For Virginia, communication isn’t just about sharing information; it’s about creating alignment and trust.
“Transparency doesn’t divide people, it brings them together,” she explains.
Virginia’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion runs deep. For her, these aren’t corporate checkboxes; they’re moral imperatives. She believes that innovation thrives when diverse minds collaborate, when empathy and clarity guide decision-making, and when everyone feels valued.
“The most enduring success comes from empathy. When people feel seen, valued, and trusted, they’ll exceed every expectation,” she says.
She also dedicates precious time to mentorship, especially for women in technology and emerging leaders. She believes that mentorship creates ripple effects across entire communities.
“When one leader rises, the whole communities rise,” she says passionately.
Her mentorship style is hands-on, empathetic, and empowering, focusing not just on skills but on mindset. She encourages young professionals to take intelligent risks, embrace discomfort, and view challenges as stepping stones.
Virginia’s story is a living example of reinvention, how setbacks can be transformed into springboards. Every chapter of her journey reflects her ability to adapt, evolve, and grow while staying true to her values.
She often tells those she mentors:
“Trust the process. Stay curious. The journey may not be straight, but every detour builds resilience. Reinvention is your greatest gift.”
In an era defined by disruption and constant change, Virginia stands as a reminder that leadership is not about control; it’s about connection and trust. It’s about knowing when to lead from the front, when to guide from behind, and when to simply listen.
Today, as she continues her work at Karmascore and beyond, Virginia’s vision remains clear to redefine success not by the size of one’s achievements, but by the depth of one’s impact. Her leadership, shaped by empathy and endurance, shows that the most powerful leaders are those who lead not just with their minds, but with their hearts. She also makes time for occasional community volunteering; her way of giving back.
Her journey is a testament to what’s possible when intelligence meets integrity and when resilience meets purpose. In her story, we find not just a blueprint for leadership but a mirror for anyone seeking meaning in their own journey.
“Leadership,” Virginia says, “isn’t about standing above others. It’s about lifting others higher and becoming better together.”
